Possibly the strongest U15 side we could muster played Horsley & Send U15s at Merrow. Having been inserted the Merrow batsmen cut loose right from the start. Jim Woodriffe was out to an excellent catch at midwicket but that man Rohan Bali again batted superbly for his customary retirement at 30 runs. Other retirees were Harvey Kirk and - for the first time in his cricket career - Jack Faulkner. Two other batsmen came very close - George Negus, with a fabulous display of hitting, was bowled just short of his 30, and James Munt, batting at No 8, was also bowled after scoring 26.
So a faintly ridiculous 220 after 20 overs was the target set for the Horsley batsmen. They batted valiantly in the circumstances and the lightning quick outfield meant that more balls went over the boundary rope than you’d usually expect. However, Merrow managed to win - by over 100 runs....
